Tafong Kati

Tafong was born in the oldest Tabalong village, Pangcah. He has created wooden sculptures for over 20 years, and his work is defined by exquisite carving and smooth knife skills. He is not good at words, but always expresses a deep love for the land and humanity with his gentle and substantive art. Since his 2002 participation in “Tribal Consciousness”, the most important event in the East Coast art scene, the mountains and shores, and Pacific winds have inspired in him a unique and deeply humanistic creative energy. He doesn’t create rashly; but once he does, his skill is apparent. And that is why Tafong’s work is so highly praised.
