高雄國際鋼雕藝術節—高雄最飆焊的文化節慶
在高雄，鋼鐵不只是工業材料，它奠定了一座城市的產業基礎，煉就在地居民的堅毅性格，更轉化成最具代表性的藝術形態與創作熱力。
2002年，高雄開始舉辦以城市產業特質為主題的高雄國際鋼雕藝術節，將鋼鐵冰冷生硬的特質，以藝術形式賦予新的語意，讓鋼鐵不再只是一門產業，一種材料。
鋼鐵城市、鐵道園區，用產業歷史羅織城市文化
自西元1919年的打狗鐵工所成立以來，歷經1940年唐榮鐵工所、1947年興盛的拆船業、1960年臨海工業區一貫作業鋼鐵廠、1970年十大建設之中國鋼鐵廠及中國造船廠，使得高雄港城為全球第三大貨櫃港，輝煌的鋼鐵工業讓高雄建立起鋼鐵城市的聲名。
日治時期時開發打狗港，為了建構完善的產業運輸鍊，日人於1900年開始著手造地築港及鐵路建置的計畫，而隨著產業貨物的輸出，港口及鐵路兩側興建了許多倉庫。這項海陸運輸接駁計畫於1908年開始成形、至美軍轟炸前漸漸完備。1923年之前，完成新的打狗停車場的啟用、第三船渠完工、增設倉庫及鐵路；1945年之前，繼續於第三船渠新建倉庫及鋪設鐵路，現存於駁二藝術特區內的倉庫群就是見證這項計畫的珍貴遺跡，蓬萊倉庫旁的扇形鐵道其前身就是日治時期的高雄港站，而貫穿園區的自行車道其前身是日治時期開始運輸的西臨港線。這些日治時期的重要工業景觀，是台灣現代化的重要表徵，串連台灣與世界，時至今日，載附著歷史記憶的特殊產業遺跡重新啟動，邁向創意無限的文化航程。
現地創作場域簡介
Introduction to the Space for the On-Site Creations
駁二藝術特區一群熱心熱血的藝文界人士於2001年成立駁二藝術發展協會，催生推動駁二藝術特區作為南部人文藝術發展的基地。2006年，高雄市政府文化局接手駁二藝術特區，在每個倉庫區持續推出各種展演，並同步進行周邊環境美化與公共藝術設置。高雄設計節、好漢玩字節、鋼雕藝術節、貨櫃藝術節、高雄人來了大公仔、The Wall駁二音樂演唱會，每一個充滿城市創意特質的展演，活力豐沛的在駁二不斷呈現嶄新的概念與樣貌，構築海港城市的魅力文化與生活美學。更於2013、2014年榮獲天下雜誌「金牌服務大賞─藝文特區類」第一名。
Pier-2 was named after the originally unused, abandoned warehouses in the harbor area. In 2000, it was found by those who were looking for a site to set off fireworks in celebration of the National Day. A group of enthusiastic artists established the Pier-2 Art Development Association to promote the Pier-2 Art Center to serve as a base for the development of culture and art in southern Taiwan. In 2006, the Bureau of Cultural Affairs, Kaohsiung City Government, took over the Center, continuously holding a wide variety of exhibitions and performances in each warehouse, and beautifying the surroundings by installing public arts. The exhibitions and performances held here, ranging from the Kaohsiung Design Festival, the Delight of Chinese Character Festival, the Kaohsiung International Steel & Iron Sculpture Festival, the Kaohsiung International Container Arts Festival and Kaohsiung People Are Coming: Role Creative Exhibition, to the Mega Port Festival, the Rainbow Bay Festival and The Wall Music Concerts are filled with the City’s creativity; innovative concepts and looks at Pier-2 Art Center are vigorously and continuously presented, thereby helping to form the glamorous culture and aesthetics in this maritime metropolis. Moreover, the Pier-2 Art Center was awarded first place in the “Art Zones" category of the Golden Service Award held by CommonWealth Magazine in 2013 and 2014, consecutively.
駁二藝術特區共分為蓬萊、大勇、大義等三大區域，共計25棟倉庫空間，倉庫除辦理各項藝術展演以外，也規劃有實驗劇場空間及小型流行音樂演出空間，其他空間並積極邀約文創藝術經營者進駐發展。
The Pier-2 Art Center is grouped into three major areas: Penglai, Dayong and Dayi, with a total of 25 warehouses. Besides all kinds of artistic exhibitions and performances, there is also space for experimental theater, mini pop music performances, and other space where cultural and creative arts operators are highly welcomed to develop their business.
